A clothing stall in the middle of a food festival

|nonexsuch

The Grub Fest turned twelve this year. Its Legacy Edit took over NSIC Estate in Okhla on 3 and 4 October, with Delhi's food brands by day and Gurinder Gill and Rabbi Shergill closing the nights.

Somewhere between the bao and the butter chicken rolls, there was a black tent selling clothes.

That was us. nonexsuch and its sister house, Astrality, ran a joint pop-up for both days. Two labels, one table, a very different crowd from the one that usually finds us online.

What nonexsuch brought

The centre of our side was the Shade, a suede hooded layer with a hood that comes away and gloves (Grip) that clip onto it. It is the piece people kept picking up and turning inside out to see how it works.

Around it: the tees. Seraph with its dense embroidery. The Lost, where 20% of the profit from every piece goes to men's mental health work. Bondage, Reject the Machine, and the baby tees, several printed to order for people who found their size on the rack.

What Astrality brought

FORGE, one of the seven objects in POSTSCRIPT.

FORGE — Astrality.

Why a food festival

Because nobody comes to a food festival expecting to stop for a print that makes them uncomfortable. The ones who stopped anyway are exactly who we make things for.

If you missed it
